In Honor of Craig Brearley

By Ron Lima

On August 27th a good friend of mine, Craig, took his life due to PTSD.

He was an East Providence Fire fighter for 24 years. He left behind a daughter Payton 12 years old. He was a long time member of Crossfit Prowess. He was such a great influence to all of us! Jason Harrington wanted to make a Hero WOD in Craig’s name and do a fundraiser for his daughter. Myself and other members of Prowess Jumped at the opportunity to get this underway from hitting the streets for raffle donations and food donations for the after party.

Long story short after planning, the event took place on October 19th at Crossfit Prowess in Seekonk, MA. Going back to my old stomping grounds was awesome a lot of fist pumps and yes some tears for the reason we were there.

The event was a big success about 100 athletes participated in the WOD! We raised almost $5000.

The support I got from Strategic was completely overwhelming. I have only been there a few months but Mary and I love it there and it already feels like family!! A big shout out to Coach B, Elise, Lawrence, Matt, “Q”, Mike, John, Bekki, Conner, Travis, Izzy and Mary.

Without any of you it would not have been the success that it was.

P.S. Get ready for next year.

Many Thanks,

Coach Ron
